Ipsy is a $10 subscription service where each month you will receive a featured makeup bag and five beauty items customized to your profile. These items can be deluxe samples or full size, and they can range in value from drugstore items to higher end. They can be well-known or indie brands. You can get hair care, fragrances, skin care, makeup, and/or tools. It’s always a mixed bag, but they do try to tailor what you’re sent out of that month’s items to what you have selected in your preferences. It’s rare that I’m disappointed, and I almost always find some new thing that I love in these bags.

You can also review the items you receive, which helps them to better determine what to send you in the future and also rewards you points that you can later redeem for other items. This month being my last month for a while due to product overload, I went ahead and redeemed about 1000 of these points for a couple of items that I’ll get to here in a bit. My ipsy bag this month was later than usual due to the fact that I cashed in some points that were expiring. Also, I noticed AFTER taking pictures that my vanity (that pretty wooden surface I use as a neutral background for most of my photos) has dog hair on it, so you’ll have to excuse that. It’s one of the pitfalls of having two messy but incredibly cuddle-hungry and sweet white-haired dogs.

As I’ve already stated, I did cancel or skip most of my monthly subscriptions for now. I’m on product overload, so while I whittle away at my stash I’m keeping my incoming product down to a minimum. I kept two of my monthly subscriptions: Ipsy and Sephora Play. Those are typically limited to five small samples per month, they’re both only $10 each, and they both have offered the best value in terms of what I pay versus what I get.

I’m also keeping Beauteque Mask Maven but skipping on occasion, since sheet masks are a one time use item and I have no issues using up 9-11 masks from month to month. I’m only skipping that particular subscription when I want to purchase other mask bundles and don’t particularly need a new bundle from Beauteque. This month, for example, I’ve just ordered a TONYMOLY mask set and a summer mask bundle from Memebox. Once those are depleted, I’ll order another bag from Beauteque. Ipsy: No Waitlist!

Referral links

It’s that time again! If you’ve ever wanted to try out Ipsy but hate the idea of a waitlist, right now is the time to sign up. You can use my referral link here.

My email says 48 hours, but I honestly have no idea when that time started or ends, so take advantage ASAP. You can take a look at my bag reviews and reveals to see what I’ve gotten in the past, if you like. Just use the search bar to the right. Typically, I’ve been seeing values in the $60-70 range, which is amazing for a bag that is only $10.

It’s that time again! Normally I do a reveal, but this time Ipsy threw me a bit of a curve ball with sample sizes on their listings, so I wanted to be a little more sure of what I was getting before I tossed this up. I’ll explain in a little more detail below.

May’s theme is “Destination Chic.” These bags come in a variety of colors according to spoilers. I’ve seen red, blue, purple (above), and pink. I got the purple one. These aren’t the usual zipper closure bags, and I’m happy to have something different with the button closure. That said, I’m a little worried my makeup will spill out of it. I guess we’ll find out. This is also waterproof, which makes it nice for traveling. Ipsy has sent waterproof bags before, but I just felt like it was worth mentioning. Continue reading “May 2016 Ipsy Review”

How to get off the Ipsy waitlist

Referral links

I love my Ipsy bag every month. For $10 I typically have gotten anywhere from $30-60 (or even more) of products to try out. Some have become new favorites, and I do tend to get quite a few full size items. Ipsy also sends a lot of tools and brushes. At the end of every review I put up, I include my referral link for anyone who wants to give it a try. (It’s here, by the way.)

But there is one annoying thing about ipsy that you’ll notice from the very moment you sign up– the waitlist. Basically, you can sign up, but you won’t get a bag until you’re off that dreaded waitlist. I have a theory… There is no actual waitlist. Continue reading “How to get off the Ipsy waitlist”

Yay! Ipsy reveals popped up yesterday, and so I thought I’d take a moment to post everything here along with how much the bag is worth. These usually ship around the 10th of the month, and as I stated in my previous Ipsy review, if anything in particular stands out to me, I’ll be bringing it up in a later review or favorites post.

April’s theme is “The Dreamers.” I like the picture of the makeup bag here, but some of the other pictures I’ve seen were a little underwhelming, so I’ll have to wait and see. I’ve already mentioned how these blues are included in my spring wardrobe, so if I get a bag that goes with all of that, it’ll definitely be a plus. Continue reading “April 2016 Ipsy Reveal”
