Random Monday thoughts…

I only recently realized I have a digestive intolerance to eggs. There’s nothing I’ve found so far to help with it aside from just avoiding eggs, and this breaks my heart. I love eggs. Every Christmas, I love to make eggs Benedict. Hard boiled eggs are one of my favorite go-to grab-and-go proteins. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to bother me when I eat baked goods or pasta, which contain eggs. I’m guessing this has something to do with the way the proteins are broken down during the cooking process. (Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, so I have no clue.) August 2016 Bulu Box Review

One of the non-beauty boxes that I’m still subscribing to is Bulu Box. Regularly, this is $10/month, but My Subscription Addiction has a wonderful code (MYSUB99) that gives you your first box for just 99¢ and all boxes throughout the duration of your subscription for just $5/month, which is what I pay. Considering the retail value of the average box I get from Bulu Box as well as their points, that’s an AMAZING deal. That’s something I’ll cover later on.

Each box comes with a card detailing the items in your box. As you can see in the upper right corner, Bulu box has a points system similar to the old Birchbox system in that you earn $1 back in credit toward their shop for every item you review. I paid $5 for this box, and I’m getting $6 back in credit just for reviewing everything. Not only am I breaking even right away, but I’m also getting paid an extra dollar– and that’s just for GETTING the box. That doesn’t even include the value of the items they’ve sent me! All of these items are available in their store to purchase at full price if you want to cash out your points, and anything in the current month’s box will ship for free until the 15th of the following month. (For anything else, you’ll need an order of $50 or more to ship for free.) Continue reading “August 2016 Bulu Box Review”

Allure Beauty Box June 2016 Review

Oh, Allure… I’m not quite sure how to go about reviewing my Allure Beauty Box subscription. June is actually my second month receiving Allure, but because of the fiasco back in May, I didn’t feel right reviewing that particular box for a number of reasons. Since then, things really haven’t improved my overall impression of Allure, and it’s possible that this might be my only review, as I have no idea whether or not I’ll be getting a July box and I honestly don’t feel like sticking around for August, even if I wasn’t currently on product overload. Skincare Diary: June 3, 2016

Everything looks great this morning after my sleeping pack. I’m a bit shiny, but nothing major. I don’t feel a lot of grit, and there’s no flaking or peeling.

  1. Simple Micellar Water
  2. Living Nature Manuka Honey Gel
  3. e.l.f. Acne Fighting Gel to blemishes
  4. Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream
  5. COOLA Classic Sunscreen Cucumber Moisturizer

I used benzoyl peroxide for the last two mornings, either in my cleanser or treatment, so I’m okay with skipping it this morning. But I do feel like I need more than just water to clean off my face this morning, so I’m going with micellar water instead. Continue reading “Skincare Diary: June 3, 2016”

Price: $32 for 1.7 oz

Back in February, I had some Birchbox points to burn, so I started looking at their skincare sets and grabbed the anti-aging regimen. This was included. Fast forward to May, and Birchbox included a few COOLA products in their sample choice, so I got an itty bitty bonus sample of the SPF 50 Sport version.
